Promoting innovation and international integration is essential to achieving sustainable development. The annual conference on Asian Innovation and Integration for Development (AIID) (formerly VIID), which was initiated by Foreign Trade University (FTU) and in collaboration with the Asia Competitiveness Institute (ACI) – the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy – National University of Singapore and the Asia Global Institute (AGI) – University of Hong Kong, is to provide an academic platform to have insights into the significance of innovation and international integration to achieve sustainable development at all levels.

Recent reports from major global think tanks have pointed out that the global economy proved more resilient than expected. However, as the global policy uncertainty is spiral, and the geopolitical tensions persist, the medium- and long-term growth prospects remain subdued. Therefore, innovation and global collaboration are called for to enhance resilience under geopolitical risks and policy uncertainties in a geoeconomic confrontation landscape.

FTU, ACI, and AGI are pleased to host the fith AIID conference on “Innovation and Collaboration for Resilience under Geopolitical Risks and Policy Uncertainties” (AIID 2026) in Hanoi, on December 4, 2026. The AIID 2026 will present the latest research findings on theoretical and practical development while addressing micro and macro development issues. This will enable policymakers, organization leaders, and enterprise managers to adapt to new contexts and adopt new policies to foster the momentum of economic and business transformation for sustainable development.

We are pleased to invite academics and professionals working in any fields of economics, business, and development to contribute to the conference by presenting papers, participating in discussions, and attending workshops. The conference accepts manuscripts of original research that have not been previously published elsewhere. Researchers and scholar-practitioners are invited to contribute papers.

Themes to be addressed in AIID 2026 may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Social and business innovation for sustainable development
  2. Regional collaboration to improve resilience under geopolitical risks and policy uncertainties
  3. Rethinking the role of FTAs in regional innovation and knowledge diffusion
